A refined spirits brand rooted in craftsmanship — designed to blend minimal luxury with sensory storytelling.
Velden Spirits is a premium craft distillery nestled in the Scottish Highlands — known for its small-batch whiskies infused with local botanicals and mountain spring water.
When Velden approached Mōra, they weren’t looking for just another label — they wanted a story bottled in design. Their identity needed to bridge old-world craftsmanship with modern refinement, attracting both connoisseurs and contemporary audiences.
Our goal was to distill the essence of Velden — its heritage, process, and quiet mastery — into a timeless visual system that would look at home on a wooden shelf or a sleek marble bar.
Visual direction
The design direction captures the duality of Velden — heritage and precision. We built a serif logotype inspired by traditional engraving, paired with a modern monogram that subtly echoes the curves of a whisky glass. The label system uses tactile materials — uncoated cotton paper, copper foil embossing, and hand-numbered batch marks to emphasize authenticity. Color palettes draw from the Scottish landscape: peat black, smoke gray, barley gold, and mist white. Typography pairs a heritage serif for storytelling with a clean sans-serif for structure, reflecting the balance of tradition and modernity.
Photography focuses on depth and contrast — light spilling over amber liquid, rough textures of oak barrels, and the misty Highland horizon. Every element speaks of patience and craft.
